ROYAL CONCERT HALL
The Royal Concert Hall is one of the largest halls in the United Kingdom and was officially opened in October 1990 after what had been a controversial construction programme.
Sigma Surveys was approached to tender to undertake a full survey of the Concert Hall by Arup and Civic Design Partnership for a potential refurbishment project. We were the successful tenderer for the project which included a topographical survey, measured building survey, elevations, roof plan and cross sections. The elevations and roof were undertaken using a Leica C10 Laser Scanner to generate a pointcloud which was then traced from within AutoCAD using a Pointools plugin. The scanner was also utilised within the building to create a model of the auditorium and various rooms to assist with drawing the cross sections and general room arrangement.
