ROYAL BLIND SCHOOL
The Royal Blind School in Edinburgh was founded in 1793 to cater for blind and partially sighted children and has since been relocated. CALA homes took over the site and planned to convert the vacant building into residential accommodation.
Sigma Surveys was asked to provide a Revit Model of the entire building to provide Michael Laird Architects with a full working model to assist with designs for the development. The survey, undertaken using a combination of Trimble TX8 and Faro X330 laser scanners to produce a 3D pointcloud, was imported to Revit Architecture where the 3D model was built. This process is known in the industry as Scan to BIM.
